Peanuts in shell “Roasted”
Description
1. How it is grown and harvested: Peanuts have become an important crop for farmers in Uzbekistan, especially in the Fergana Valley and the southern regions, where long, hot summers and light irrigated soils provide the conditions that the crop needs. These peanuts are grown in Uzbekistan’s warm fields, harvested in autumn and dried naturally. Selected pods are then roasted in the shell, which develops a deep, nutty aroma and a crunchy kernel. Roasting in the shell keeps the kernels protected, so they stay clean and retain their aroma, while the shell itself becomes crisp and easy to break. The peanuts are grown in Uzbekistan’s hot summers on irrigated sandy-loam soils that are well suited to the crop and produce well-filled pods with sweet kernels.
2. Processing and packaging details: After roasting, the pods are cooled, sorted to remove broken or burnt pods and foreign matter, and packed in moisture-resistant packaging that keeps them crunchy. Roasting is carried out under controlled temperature and time to achieve an even colour without burning. Peanuts must be kept dry and cool (ideally below 15 °C, relative humidity below 65%) to protect quality and prevent spoilage. In-shell peanuts keep their quality for up to 12 months; kernels are best used within 6–12 months in closed packaging. Each lot can be supplied with export documentation, including a phytosanitary certificate and certificate of origin, on request.
3. Health benefits and nutrition: Roasted peanuts provide plant protein, healthy fats, fibre, niacin, vitamin E, folate and magnesium. Peanuts are a major allergen. Their combination of protein and healthy fats gives lasting energy, making roasted peanuts a natural alternative to fried snacks. Roasted peanuts in shell are a popular snack for retail, markets, cinemas, stadiums and bars. They are also a traditional treat for family gatherings and are easy to sell by weight in markets. Cracking the shells by hand is part of the enjoyment, and it naturally slows down eating, which makes portion control easier.
