Description

1. How it is grown and harvested: Pulses have been grown in Uzbekistan for centuries and are a key part of the national cuisine. Today the country is a significant exporter of pulses, especially mung beans and beans, thanks to its long, hot growing season, irrigated fields and the possibility of growing a second crop after the wheat harvest. This chickpea grade is grown on the fields of Uzbekistan, harvested in summer when the pods have dried, threshed and dried naturally. It is supplied raw, without roasting or other processing, so buyers can cook, sprout or process it according to their needs. The warm, dry climate and sunny summers of Uzbekistan help chickpeas ripen evenly with firm, well-filled seeds.

2. Processing and packaging details: The chickpeas are cleaned of soil, stones, chaff and foreign seeds, calibrated and sorted to remove broken, discoloured or damaged seeds. They are packed in clean food-grade export bags that keep them dry and protected. The product is available in large volumes for regular supply. Store in a cool, dry, well-ventilated place, off the floor and away from moisture and pests. Under these conditions dry pulses keep their quality for 12–24 months (mung flour for around 12 months). Each lot can be supplied with export documentation, including a phytosanitary certificate and certificate of origin, on request.

3. Health benefits and nutrition: Raw chickpeas are rich in plant protein and dietary fibre and provide folate, iron, manganese, magnesium and zinc. They have a low glycaemic index and are naturally gluten-free. Raw chickpeas must be soaked and cooked before eating. Chickpeas support a healthy, plant-based diet and provide long-lasting fullness thanks to their fibre and protein. Suitable for cooking, sprouting, roasting, hummus, soups, stews, salads and flour production. Please contact us for the full specification of this grade. For cooking, soak for 8–12 hours, discard the water and cook until tender. Chickpeas are also a popular ingredient for plant-based protein products and healthy snacks such as roasted chickpeas.
