Description

1. How it is grown and harvested: Pulses have been grown in Uzbekistan for centuries and are a key part of the national cuisine. Today the country is a significant exporter of pulses, especially mung beans and beans, thanks to its long, hot growing season, irrigated fields and the possibility of growing a second crop after the wheat harvest. These beans are grown on the fields of Uzbekistan, harvested when the pods have dried on the plant, threshed and dried naturally to safe storage moisture. Warm summers and irrigated fields allow the pods to fill evenly, giving well-shaped beans with good cooking quality. Each lot is harvested when the pods have dried completely so that the beans store well and cook evenly.

2. Processing and packaging details: The beans are cleaned, calibrated and sorted to remove broken or damaged beans, stones and foreign seeds, and packed in clean food-grade export bags. The product is available in large volumes for regular supply. Store in a cool, dry, well-ventilated place, off the floor and away from moisture and pests. Under these conditions dry pulses keep their quality for 12–24 months (mung flour for around 12 months). Each lot can be supplied with export documentation, including a phytosanitary certificate and certificate of origin, on request.

3. Health benefits and nutrition: Beans provide plant protein, dietary fibre, iron, potassium, magnesium, folate and slow-release carbohydrates, and are naturally gluten-free. Soak and cook thoroughly before eating. Their fibre and protein content provide long-lasting fullness and support healthy digestion, and they fit well into vegetarian and vegan diets. Suitable for soups, stews, salads, side dishes and canned products. Please contact us for the full specification of this grade. Soak for 8–12 hours, discard the soaking water and cook until tender. They work well in slow-cooked dishes, where they absorb the flavour of spices and broth. Beans are an important part of Uzbek home cooking and of many traditional soups and stews across the region, and they are an affordable, nutritious food for families and catering.
